JAMES EWART
JAMES EWART is a young up and coming Scottish racehorse trainer. He has trained for PANTHER for several years now. He comes from a traditional farming family background and rode between the flags as did his father Neil from the age of 16 in Hunter Chases and Point to Points. His father Neil Ewart is himself a permit holder/trainer and has bred and trained point to pointers and chasers. Following graduation from the Royal Agricultural College in 1998 James gained work experience with top trainers Jonjo O’Neill, Nicky Henderson, John Leadbetter and Ferdy Murphy. He then bacame amateur rider / pupil assisstant for four years to Ferdy Murphy. During his time with Ferdy he spent the summer months in France with French Bloodstock agent Guy Petit. It was during this 
time that James gained valuable experience of the professional purchasing and sales of French racehorses and training methods, plus building up an extensive portfolio of contacts for the best jumping stock in France, sourcing horses such as Dark Ben and My Way De Solzen. Then followed a spell with Guillaume Macaire (Champion French Jumps Trainer for 19 Years) as assistant trainer / amateur jockey where he was given some top rides, winning 3/5 rides at Auteuil; Frances most prestigious racecourse, winning the 100th Prix De France Champion Amateur Chase. James's final Assistant Trainer role came from joining his father before gaining his own racehorse training licence in 2004. Thereafter, JAMES EWART RACING Ltd commenced, initially acting as an agent; buying and selling French horses to UK trainers and owners before merging into racehorse training.
JAMES EWART RACING is very much on the up and James is a trainer with'' The eye of the Tiger '' For this season, there is a new TAPETA GALLOP and it is already proving its worh with no problems after torrential rain. The yard, pictured above, is set in incredible countryside with a salmon river at the bottom of the gallops. James has developed everything in meticulous fashion and is now reaping the rewards. I shouldn't be just mentioning James all the time, as he is ably assisted by wife Briony who is assistant trainer / secretary and is involved in a lot of the essential background work associated with any racing yard. The unsung hero !
