History/Experience

Jim has been involved in greyhound racing for about 25 years. He left school at 16 to work for the Racing Post where he previewed and reported on open races. From there he went to work for Ron Mills at Swindon, Tony Tugwell at Reading where he was head lad for 8 years. Jim then joined Charlie Lister for 18 months where he was closely involved with numerous category one dogs including Rapid Ranger, Kit Kat Kid, Farloe Bonus and Derbay Flyer.

Jim left Charlie in 2000, when he moved to Norfolk to marry his wife Kelly. He took out his own license in 2002 and was contracted to Nottingham, where he had an enviable 33% strike rate from a 100+ dog strong kennel. The travelling between his home, the kennels and Nottingham proved inpractical. Now Jim concentrates very much on quality not quantity and has plenty of good, young open racers in his care. Homebred Jesters Nap gave Jim his biggest win as a handler by winning the Puppy Derby in 2008. Jim is presently attached to Yarmouth stadium but is about to be contracted to Crayford where prize money is the tops in the country for graded racing. However, Jim is always on the road contending open races.   ???????????????????????????????

Having visited the kennels, they are very spacious and clean and both Jim and wife Kelly were very hospitable. Also, their greyhounds made us very welcome !
