Sire – MONEY TALKS

BLACK 31.5 K dog who contested the 2013 Wimbledon Derby, coming 2nd in first round heat, winning the heat in round 2 and then brought down in his 3rd round heat. Only one chance in these heats and through no fault of his own he was out of the Derby at that point so no knowing what may have been. He won 11 from 29 races and is a new sire with only 9 offspring but with plenty of early success inc Open.

Bitch – RUN ON SCOOBY

OPEN class White and Blue bitch winning 11 from 65 races.  21 offspring with varied success inc Open.

Racing Form / Plans

Jimmy made an immediate impact at Sunderland for THE QUEST SYNDICATE – a group within Panther. Trialed in at A3 level, he won first time up, was then 2nd and then won his next race. It was a very short racing career as he ran 7 races in total, winning 2 and 2nd x 2 and was injured on his 7th start. It looked a bad injury and ideally he should have been caught but kept on running to the pick up which would have done the injury no favours. Examined immediately by the track vets it was ascertained it wasn’t bone damage but would need plenty of time off track. As we didn’t want to risk further damage to the dog if he returned to racing, a decision was made to retire him ourselves and he is now ensconced at our home ! Not the original intention ! He was a pup of only 20 months old on retiring and who knows how good he really could have been ? Was already A2 dog

YVONNE BELL

Yvonne (pictured left on photo alongside racehorse trainer Rebecca Menzies, myself, racehorse stud owner and former ladies amateur champion rider Lucy Horner and racehorse trainer Lucinda Egerton on a Christmas night out at Sunderland dogs) needs no introduction to those who follow the greyhounds as she has had a lifetime around them. Her parents were very active on the flapping circuit and Yvonne (married to John) has been training in her own right for well over 30 years now. Her daughter Melanie is married to Newcastle trainer Jimmy Fenwick and her other daughter Carolyn goes racing everyday with Yvonne. Grandson Lewis is an active fund raiser (very successfully) for the retired greyhounds, as well as being very keen on the dogs when school time permits and he has his licence for leading up the dogs which is a big help for Yvonne who has 60 + dogs in her care and is contracted to the Sunderland greyhound track. Best dog over the years has probably been Littlemoor Larry who won the Gold Cup at Sunderland. However, some of the best moments have been when seeing dogs she has raised from pups or purchased as pups climbing through the grades for their owners. Yvonne remains as competitive today as the day she started out.

Yvonne has a continuous high winning % strike rate (around 25% average).

SUNDERLAND GREYHOUND STADIUM

Based on the North West of Sunderland, it has easy access from the A19. The track had a major upgrade in the 1990's and is now owned since 2017 by ARC who own several horse racetracks including the local Newcastle and Sedgefield tracks purchased it along with Newcastle greyhound track from William Hill Bookmakers. For graded greyhound racing, it is good prize money and two races taking centre stage for the Festival of Racing Finals Night meeting in July is the William Hill Classic (£15,000) and the William Hill Grand Prix (£25,000) plus an excellent supporting race card worth many thousands. Racing at Sunderland takes place on Tuesday afternoons, Wed evenings, Thurs mornings, Frid night and Sun mid day. There are many offers that take place with food and drinks. There is a very smart 150 cover restaurant overlooking the track and again there are many value packages available if booking a table. Racing itself is competitive and distances raced are 261 / 450 / 640 /metres on a circuit of 378 metres. It tends to favour the sharp dogs. Sunderland management have been very good with PANTHER, giving owners many privileges. You will be registered at the track as an owner if taking up a share in a dog with ourselves and receive ALL ownership privileges and discounts.
