Profile

PANTHERS STORM (STORM) MAY ’16 dog pup PARADISE MADISON X GLENAMADDY GIFT (DROOPYS KEWELL)

STORM came over to Yvonne’s from Ireland and had 3 trials at Dundalk winning all 3 inc. a 3 dog by 8l and a 2 dog by 10 lengths.

33.5 k Black pup who is another of Panther’s pups to have been purchased as a bit of unknown quantity. Can’t deny it’s a risk, THESE TYPE OF PUPS ARE !

Sire – PARADISE MADISON (Headbound x Paradise Alanna)

He is a prolific sire having had 707 offspring to date. WON 10 from 28 races and 2nd x 5. A GROUP 1 dog rated 165 on greyhound data. Pic courtesy of the greyhound data website.

Bitch – GLENAMADDY GIFT (Droopys Kewell)

Only ran 8 races, winning 1 and rated 84.  However, was 31k bitch and has bred individual winners of a Group 1 and 9 Open dogs to 116 rated from only 23 offspring. Storm’s litter is the next one.

Racing Form / Plans

Storm is coming out of the traps very slow, has been tried over 6 bends which has made no difference and unfortunately he is proving to be enigmatic at present. He has been thoroughly checked over three times now and there appears to be nothing physically wrong and he seems to chase but hasn’t got the thought process to pass dogs ?

Ownership

5% share group but can’t sell shares until he shows some form.

YVONNE BELL

Yvonne (pictured left on photo alongside racehorse trainer Rebecca Menzies, myself, racehorse stud owner and former ladies amateur champion rider Lucy Horner and racehorse trainer Lucinda Egerton on a Christmas night out at Sunderland dogs) needs no introduction to those who follow the greyhounds as she has had a lifetime around them. Her parents were very active on the flapping circuit and Yvonne (married to John) has been training in her own right for well over 30 years now. Her daughter Melanie is married to Newcastle trainer Jimmy Fenwick and her other daughter Carolyn goes racing everyday with Yvonne. Grandson Lewis is an active fund raiser (very successfully) for the retired greyhounds, as well as being very keen on the dogs when school time permits and he has his licence for leading up the dogs which is a big help for Yvonne who has 60 + dogs in her care and is contracted to the Sunderland greyhound track. Best dog over the years has probably been Littlemoor Larry who won the Gold Cup at Sunderland. However, some of the best moments have been when seeing dogs she has raised from pups or purchased as pups climbing through the grades for their owners. Yvonne remains as competitive today as the day she started out.

Yvonne has a continuous high winning % strike rate (around 25% average).

SUNDERLAND GREYHOUND STADIUM

Based on the North West of Sunderland, it has easy access from the A19. The track had a major upgrade in the 1990's and is now owned since 2017 by ARC who own several horse racetracks including the local Newcastle and Sedgefield tracks purchased it along with Newcastle greyhound track from William Hill Bookmakers. For graded greyhound racing, it is good prize money and two races taking centre stage for the Festival of Racing Finals Night meeting in July is the William Hill Classic (£15,000) and the William Hill Grand Prix (£25,000) plus an excellent supporting race card worth many thousands. Racing at Sunderland takes place on Tuesday afternoons, Wed evenings, Thurs mornings, Frid night and Sun mid day. There are many offers that take place with food and drinks. There is a very smart 150 cover restaurant overlooking the track and again there are many value packages available if booking a table. Racing itself is competitive and distances raced are 261 / 450 / 640 /metres on a circuit of 378 metres. It tends to favour the sharp dogs. Sunderland management have been very good with PANTHER, giving owners many privileges. You will be registered at the track as an owner if taking up a share in a dog with ourselves and receive ALL ownership privileges and discounts.
